Teddy Roosevelt and the River of Doubt

What happened:
In December 1913, Theodore Roosevelt his son, and several other men went on an expedition to map the River of doubt. Shortly into the expedition something went afoul and the group ended up wandering around in the middle of the Amazon looking for a way back to civilization. While they wondered they were stalked for a brief period by the Cinta Larga, a tribe of cannibals. Colonel Ranon was attacked by them at one point and had his dog killed. Ranon responded by giving them gifts as a sign of friendship and respect, and told his men ‘Die if you must, but never kill.’
Many of the expedition members got very ill, including Roosevelt himself, who’s condition got to the point he considered taking a lethal dose of morphine. They also became desperate and stole food from each other, one man being murdered for food. By the time they reached civilization all but three of the men survived.
Notes:

  • Got stalked my the Cinta Larga, cannibal tribes people
  • Colonel Ranon was attacked and his dog killed, he responded by giving them gifts, as a sign of freindship and respect and told his men “Die if you must but never kill.”
  • Three men died, but everyone else made it out alive.
  • Kermit was newly engaged when the expedition started.
  • If Kermit hadn’t been there Teddy would have died
  • Teddy had recently lost the election
  • Roosevelt almost died

Emerging Technology: Autostereoscopy

Auto-stereoscopy is any method of displaying a stereoscopic image (an illusion of 3D depth) without the use of glasses. Stereoscopy itself has been used for quite some time, using glasses that use various methods to show each eye a separate image that the brain combines into one ‘3D’ image. While auto-stereoscopy is similar, it lacks the need of glasses, and is also known as ‘glasses-less, or glasses-free, 3D,’ for that very reason. It works by using either lenticular lenses or parallax barriers that redirect the image to several viewing angles, each eye picks up a different image, and it shifts at different angles, giving an illusion of 3D. While there are several different viewing angles, there are also dead zones where a blurry, 2D, or even no image is seen. The recently released Nintendo 3DS is an example of handheld gaming device that uses a parallax barrier to create a ‘3D’ image. A phone was recently released in America that works on the same concept as well.

Jean Hoerni

Jean Hoerni was the inventor of the planar process, a process through which transistors could be made out of silicon, as opposed to the usual germanium. He made this discovery after he and seven others, known as the Traitorous Eight, left Shockley’s Semiconductor Lab and create the Fairchild Semiconductor corperation. He died on January 12, 1997 in Seattle, Washington of mylofibrosis.

Fun little flag design thing

I had to make something in paint that represents my personality. How does this represent my personality you ask? It's symmetrical, and I have a small case of OCD when it comes to symmetry in things I make, my favorite color is purple, and I pride myself in the random things I know, showing this by also using a gold(-ish) color, gold and a dark purple being colors commenly used to represent royalty.

So, here's my first blog post 'n stuff

Hello Audience, because apparently there is one! Anyways, I'm That Dude, with the Face, I'm sure you've all met me at some point or another. I'm a writer, currently writing my first book, an avid gamer, and surprisingly good at recoloring sprites, as evidenced by my avatar.
